Sample Artifacts/Deliverables
These first four samples were created as part of my final portfolio project for EDUC 767 ("Designing Computer-Based Training") at UW-Stout. They are representative of the skills needed for effective instructional development.
Sample DESIGN DOCUMENT for SCORM-Compliant Reusable Learning Object (RLO)
Sample STORYBOARD for one training lesson for telephone operators at call center (class assignment). Created in Articulate Storyline and PowerPoint.
Sample short RLO (assignment for course using SME-provided content on SCORM) - Developed in Articulate Storyline
I created this Camtasia VIDEO DEMO almost a year ago, so the information is no longer correct (and the web site mentioned has been completely changed).
SCENARIOS are a perfect way to teach soft skills. I created this sample scenario assessment in Articulate Storyline.

FLOW CHART for a branching instructional RLO. Created at www.gliffy.com. This flow chart is also included in the design document (left).
Sample STORY BOARD for Reusable Learning Object (RLO), part of a larger soft-skills course on confidentiality. Created in Articulate Storyline and PowerPoint.
10-15-minute RLO developed from design document and storyboard (above) - Developed in Articulate Storyline (shows use of hotspots, variables, drag and drop interaction and assessment with review).
Sample DEMO/SIMULATION on using hyperlinks to create hotspots. Created using PowerPoint and Adobe Captivate. This is the first simulation I've ever done in Captivate, so there are a few little glitches. I couldn't help but think how much easier this would have been in Camtasia or Storyline!
Sample SCENARIO-BASED ASSESSMENT developed in Captivate. Scroll to the bottom of the Assessment page (click picture to link).

This sample TRAINING learning object uses information provided by a SME but makes it more engaging and relevant to the business world. [Info provided by Bisk Education, plus placeholder text.]
I created this quick sample using PowerPoint and Articulate Storyline as part of an instructional design assessment task in preparation for a job interview. I was given only a black and white PowerPoint presentation (text only), an audio file, and the SWOT analysis chart used in this learning object. There were no interactions in the original information supplied and no real-world applications or training. I created this in just one evening to meet time constraints, but it could be developed further with more time and input from a SME. |
If you'd like to see samples of e-learning created for use in an LMS (Moodle), you can view a sample course (with one module from each of three different professional growth classes) by clicking on the link below and creating a guest account. For more information on "Professional Growth Classes" (which I founded and for which I administrate and design the courses), visit www.growthclasses.com.
The document below was my final team portfolio project for EDUC 768 ("Project Management for Instructional Development"). My partners and I met weekly for collaboration and document creation for a fictitious company with an e-learning need (per our assignment). I served as the project coordinator, setting up documents and discussions in Basecamp and ensuring all deadlines were met for each course module. While we worked as a team, I specifically took the lead in developing the "Something Spectacular" LOGO, COMMUNICATION PLAN, STORYBOARDS, meeting agenda and minutes, and offered considerable input in the development of the USER GUIDE.
